Went down out of the econfina last saturday and tried everything from 2' to 10'. SLOW SLOW SLOW fishing. Ended up with 6 keepers on the day, so not too bad. The water had a visibility of less than a foot it seemed. It was like I was fishing in a giant cup of black coffee. Anyone have any ideas of how long it might be before the water starts to clear up a bit?

Without any rains at all maybe 6 or 7 weeks ..You have to remember their was 60" of rain during that storm

I see no reason for anybody to fish Ecofina until at least next spring.

Two months without rain for clearer water at least. I'm concerned the damage being done to the sea grasses.

I fear there has been a great deal of sea grass damage. I fished Alligator Point last week and dead seagrass was everwhere. I could not throw top water as it collected on the lures, I could not bounce anything off the bottom as it would collect clumps of grass. I could not keep a shrimp under a cork clean of grass either. Every throw collected grass on the line and what ever I attached to the end. Very frustrating. It could have been the area I was fishing and time of year, but I can't remember ever having this occur in the past. I guess I will just wait until the Seminoles shoot themselves in the foot before I try and focus on fishing.

Pretty typical late summer / fall with the floating grass. I have not been in a month to Lanark but one issue I did have there was the storm blew in tons of Sargassum weed, there were floating islands of it.

Got to adapt, if your intent on top water, use one that the eye is directly in the nose of the bait, and remove your trebles and put one circle hook facing up on the back. Mirrolures work great for this because you can unscrew / screw in the rear eye so that it's situated sideways and allows the hook to face up.
