Apps For Fishing (Good and Bad)

Okay, I finally got a smart phone. Who knew you had to be smart to use it? I'm learning (a little).

So, I'm thinking I should download an "APP" for fishing. Simple (I thought); surely it's easy to get tide and feed time predictions. I found out there are quite a few fishing apps to choose from. Like boats, it seems that there is is no single fishing app that does everything well. Reviews and prices varied. I'm so confused. I want to get this right the first time.
So I got the bright idea that the BigBendFishing community could help me out.

What say you about fishing apps? Let's steer clear of which is better; Droid or iPhone.

I use it more than some others I have.

Check out Fish Cal. It shows major, minor feed times, moon phase, etc. Shralp Tide pulls up your tides in an instant. If I recall, both are free. Ken also has the BoatUS app. I haven't checked it out though.

I use a tide chart that is a website. Just log onto it in safari and place it on your homepage. About as fast as an app and the only tide chart i trust.

eradarHD is not free, but it is real time radar and seemless transition between towers. It is the most useful app I have for fishing.

Sea Tow app is a must, especially if your a member. The live radar and tides help a lot.

Also, fish rules app. And I have the speed box lite app for gps mph for when my gps on humming bird went out.

i use Intellicast Boating on my iPad and I know they have an iPhone app. On the iPad it shows marine charts overlaid with various info of your choice i.e. tides/marine forecast/marine buoy data/radar etc. not sure if the detail level on the iPhone is the same but a very powerful tool for boating/fishing. I think it is a Weather.com product so constant updates and support. i like that it s almost all inclusive no solunar but just about everything else is on there. Might even put JT out of the forecast business...

Using Time2Fish Lite as free solunar app on my droid. Love it and have found it to be pretty spot on in predictions. Gives not only daily prediction on 0 to 5 star basis, but then gives graph of hourly ratings with scores between 0 and 100. Screenshot below. Does require having GPS enabled/on to give accurate prediction adjusted for your specific location.

Think most of them where .99, except the EarthNC charts, it was 19.99 and worth every bit of it. It got us back, from SM1 tower after losing all electronics. It is great on the apple based cell phone, but is even better on the apple based tablet.

What we really need is a BBFF App, with all the awesomeness contained in it. Jus' Sayin...

Navionics makes a GPS app for $10. It's basically the same thing as the $200 chip they sell for marine GPS units. Its a must have for back-up and comes in handy when your on other peoples boats.

On the Fish Cal, once it displays the calendar, then tape right below the calendar on the bar where it says, "Show Monday, October..." It will bring up a window that shows feed times etc. You can then scroll with your finger to display the next day feed times, etc. It also has a note section that will allow you to record date, time a fish was caught, gps locations, weight, length etc. It's under the My Catches at the bottom.

I also have the navionics app on my IPAD. Great app to have as well.

Thanks Tally, but my app isn't coming up that way. I'm wondering if it didn't download properly. I keep looking for Time2fish, but my Iphone can't find it.

Time2fish is an android app. You won't find it for the iphone. Might try downloading the Fish Cal again. Just a thought.
