Trout Fishing

Post by larsonhu »

I'm going out to the lighthouse tomorrow with my friend. We are students at FSU and are new to fishing the area. I was wondering where some good places are to catch trout.

Are you going to have any kind of boat or fishing/wading from shore?

Yep. Check your tides. On rising and high hit the creek mouths as you go east. Follow the tide out to 4 to 7 foot water and fish the grass flats. Make sure you have all the safety stuff you need as you will probably get checked. Also just in case you need it...
Out in front of the lighthouse you will see a bunch of old poles from an old pier and at lower tides you will see an oyster bar. Fish this area too.
I don't know if it's legal to do but in my Gheenoe I park by the lighthouse and just drag it down the bank, avoiding the ramp and the trip out the canal and out the channel.

Any number of rock piles or oyster bars you happen to see. Fish the edges when they are exposed and all over when they are covered.
