Prop repair & in need of a new prop

Post by yardman32317 »

Need to get an aluminum prop repaired - is there any place close to Tallahassee?
I am prepared to run to Perry to Gator Prop & Welding if there isn't.

Also, where is the best place to get an new aluminum prop for Yamahas?
I need to get a 13 1/2 15 for a 70 hp two stroke.

Thanks,

Have you thought about putting a SS prop on?

For new props, I have found Solas to be great. They also make high performance props and Jetski props.

I get mine from Overton's.

Yes I have but aluminum is much more forgiving for a novice like me.

Any where local?

I don't mind ordering but need to replace the prop asap and then get the old one worked on.

x2 on Gator Props in Perry. If you want to drop it off in Tally, West Marine sends them out to a shop in Tampa that picks up once a week (last I heard anyway). I think Sunshine does the same. For a new Yamaha brand prop call Parkway Marine. A little more expensive than a Solas but you don't have to deal with the shipping thing. I've bought both over the years. Either is good enough for lower horsepower motors.

Got a referb prop from Fred at Parkway.
He mentioned that company out of Tampa.
I'm going to drop off my old prop and let that company pick it up and do the work.
Will save me a drive to Tampa.

I did put Gator Prop & Welding in my phone in case I need them.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

I don't recall the name of the shop in Tampa but they repaired my SS prop via pickup from a semi-local Yamaha dealer who was doing the other repair work I needed and I was astounded at the finished product. Dealer said they were the best in the state.

I have a 13.25 X 15 prop in like new shape I'd sell for $75 the next time I'm down that way. I put it on a yamaha 115 2 stroke thinking it would do better then a 17 pitch, but I was getting too many RPM's out of it.

I just had one redone. I took it to Mikes Marine Panacea. They have somebody that picks them up once a week. Repaired, balanced and painted.
