Took the wife fishing today, it was her first trip of the entire year and we wanted to end up the year fishing. Cold this morning and frosty, but wind not bad at all. Got launched at 0830, first spot missed something on jig. Went down to Sheilds and a man was fishing from a dock catching small trout. Anchored there and must have caught 20 or more 10-12'' trout, about as fast as we could cast. Left there and went up-river, stopped at power plant in 15 ft. and caught 3 keepers, a lot of just-short ones as well. Bite stopped at 1030 when tide dead low, went exploring up-river. Saw lots of boats, nobody catching. Ran into a buddy from Moultrie up river, he said nothing biting as far up as he had gone. He caught most of his fish like we did in the early morning. Caught 3 small sheepshead and a mangrove on small jigs and shrimp, not much else. Kept moving and ended up in a deep hole around a bend.Caught another keeper trout, started catching white trout and got one 17'' that pulled just like a red. Used gulp and jigs, tipped with shrimp mostly. Fish didn't seem to want it without the shrimp. I had a bottom rig with small lead and hook on board, I lost count of the trout I caught on it, plus a nice croaker. When we left at 1530, every boat we passed was catching a fish. It was an amazing day, had a good day with wife and caught a lot of fish. Don't get much better. The only problem was all the pesky pelicans, every time we caught something they swooped down trying to get it. I fed them several small sand trout hoping to fill them up, didn't work. Next time I might carry a slingshot and some rocks! :smt004

I took the wife and out o'l dog out there to yesterday in the pontoon, we caught a few trout and a small sheepshead, didn't get out there till about 1030-11 and went to riverside at 1, so we didn't fish very long, was a great time on the water with my girls
