Post by Steve Stinson »

My Dad told me about this plan when he was in town for Thanksgiving, but I didn't give it much credence. It's all over the internet now.

It all started in 2006 ------------------- wasn't Bush in office then?
A 2006 report commissioned by the federal Department of Transportation called a mileage tax "the most promising technique for directly assessing road users for the costs of individual trips within a comprehensive fee scheme that will generate revenue to cover the costs of highway programs."

Good! can we start charging those pesky , aggravating bicyclists for the miles they travel now? And can there also be a law that states that the helments they wear have to at least look decent....not dorky...
