the fish and the weather.

Post by dombern34 »

got a question for the BBF folks, i know normally this time of the year the fish are up the creeks and river, well not 100% sure of your weather down there but up here in southwest GA its been in the mid 70's a a lot lately and we haven't really had a long period of time of cold weather. will this push the fish back onto the flats any or should they still be around the creeks mouths and rivers? i plan on fishing St. Marks tomorrow since its a day off due to the Holiday. and only chance i got to go. just looking for anyone's input on where a good starting point would be, not looking for anyone's honey holes just want to know if i need to stay in the river or venture out into the flats. i appreciate everyone's time and hope everyone has a safe and great weekend.

one more question, is the Wakulla river a river that would fish this time of year? or is it a fresh water river wasn't sure if that was a river worth trying or not? thanks everyone

thanks again

I would try the creek mouths and darker colored flats areas. Look for pin fish or other bait fish. That should help a lot. Also look for diving birds, there should be some fish hanging around any area where birds are diving on bait fish.
The bite is going to be a little slow on Monday, but with a 2 foot rising tide in the morning, the creek entrances and in the creeks as the water level allows should be as good a place as any to find some Trout and Reds.
