Eating Lady fish?

A young one makes good cut bait.
Ladyfish can be used in that old recipe using a cedar shingle board to cook the fish. The one where you throw the fish away and eat the board.
You had better put the Ladyfish on ice right away or all you'll have is mush.
Time for CSMarine to join in. How about it CSMarine, does your wife have a good recipe for Ladyfish?

Re: Eating Lady fish?
Last time I was fishing the bay at St. George, behind the camp ground. I caught about 18 within a hour out of my kayak, it was fun.
But no thanks, I would not like to have them for dinner.

Re: Eating Lady fish?
My grandpa owned a restaurant in the Tampa area for a long time and he use to cook ladyfish in a similar fashion. He'd scrape the meat off with a spoon (as in the video), season with garlic salt & pepper, and boil them in fish stock. They make a great edible protein addition to fish soup; however, I'd rather use 'em as redfish bait.

Why not try a plentiful fish?
My dad remembers when amberjack were trash fish.
And if its good, why not throw back a few trout to be caught again?
I'm in it for the adventure and like experimenting with food.

Why would anyone NOT want to eat the elusive pink dookie fish?!?!?
Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!

Not quite sure why yall wanna eat ladyfish
with all the Trout, Reds, Flounder, Sheepshead, Rock Bass, etc. readily available to us pretty much year round!! Only time they are in my cooler is when they will sliced and diced for bait!!

Re: Eating Lady fish?
First the wormy old amberjack becomes table fare and now the nasty lady fish. Sorry, not for me.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
Re: Eating Lady fish?
I just pull those worms out...
...and fry them up separately.

Ladyfish are our favorite cut bait.
Their scales create a gorgeous shimmering chum line.
Too valuable to eat.

If EVER a post spoke to mid-winter madness and the need for warmer weather fishing reports, it's surely THIS post.

I'm doing it... Saved four from Thursday.
They have been on ice till today.
Cleaned them just like the video showed and it was easy.
Looked better than I expected

Going to fry up some patties tonight.
