Some troll with a mirrolure. If you anchor try rigging a gulp 4" jerk bait with a worm hook, without lead or cork. Throw out and let it slowly sink with a slight jerk once in awhile. Some days you have to try anything and every thing.

Thanks for everyones tips. It was one of those days today. Caught couple shorts no keepers. Had fun anyways. Few guys said they were having best luck on flats. How far out and what do you try to fish around on flats. Structure, holes?

Grass beds, oyster bars, rocks and anywhere you have ever caught trout before. Seems they change locations during each season and even within a season. So many facters to look at: water temp, structure, weather, feed source, feed, tide, moon, wind and even when you find them they don't always bite. I suppose that is one reason we all like to fish. We're always looking and trying something.

Good luck and enjoy yourself! Go fishing every day you can, remember what happened, when, where, how and try to make sense of what you learn. Read all you can find about fishing, ask questions (bait stores and fishing friends are good sources) and FISH!

Walmart has maps of the area or a good gps like a garmin will show quite a bit of it too.

I bought a TOP SPOT MAP at the Aucella Landing store. It has been very helpful to me. My new gps has marine maps loaded into it but I would use any map as a guide not an absolute fact.

So if i get this Top Spot Map at the Aucella Landing store, will it get me outside into the gulf with little trouble? I am running a little 14 foot aluminum skiff, nothing fast, and willing to learn the river as i travel it. I am interested in fishing outside the river..

You will be fine. Go slow and hang to the right going out. Don't have your motor in lock position. If you have a shallow drive position on it do that. Low tide is the worst time.

I mainly fish around the mouth of the Aucilla and i have been running from Ecofina, this would cut some miles off both the driving distance and the boating distance. i have a little 9.9HP kicker and am in no hurry, same conditions surround Ecofina, you have to watch yourself.... And low tide is bad in Eco too!!!
