Question about epoxy rod finish

Post by Mister Mullet »

Does cold weather affect how epoxy high-build rod finish hardens? Been waiting weeks for the weather to warm so I can finish a rod for an upcoming trip, and now I'm running out of time. Anybody? Anybody?

you will be fine. just apply the finish. at the worse it might take a little longer to cure. just leave the brush in the cup and after 12 hours. put your finger in the cup if it leaves a finger print its not ready keeping checking the cup until its fully cured. then you'll be ready to fish.

I wouldn't worry about temperature as much as dampness. The resin has cobalt which reacts and causes the epoxy to cure. I would finish the rod and bring it inside the house to cure.
