Learned from Party Boat fishing in Destin

Post by DEADLYMNM7 »

Hello fellow Fishermen!
I went on a party boat called The Swoop in Destin this weekend.
Here is a few things I learned going on a Deep Sea Party boat the first time:
1. Arrive early and get in front of the boat you are going on; try to be first one in line. The reason is you want to get in back of the boat and get in front of the fishing rod you want to use. This was taken up quickly and I ended up on the front of the boat.
I didn't have any issues fishing though the people in the back caught more and had more room to move and less chance of your line getting twisted with others. Also, the back of the boat moves less in case you have motion sickness.
2. Take motion sickness pills if you need it. Luckily my boat didn't rock that much.
3. Take sun tan lotion. You will burn.
4. Take your shades. Its bright out there.
5. It can take some time to get to your fishing area. You many want to take something to entertain yourself. I enjoyed the view so I really didn't need anything.
6. Bring a cooler. To store your fish.
7. Bring a hat. I had my cap
8. Bring Lunch. You will get hungry.
9. Bring a towel and hand sanitizer. You will be baiting your hoops so you will wipe down your hands.
10. A camera. Take pics of your catches!
11. Go to the bathroom before you go on the boat.
12. Bring cash to tip the crewman who assist yous
13. AND THE MAIN THING TO CHECK FOR IS THE SEASON YOU ARE GOING! I had caught so much Red Snapper and all of it had to go back in the water because you can't keep them until June!!! I was so upset about this but I should have checked!

Overall, I had a great time and I highly recommend the Swoop! The crew was very professional and took care of me out there.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a good time. That's all that counts. "Could haves" and "might of's" count only half points. :)

You'll be ready next time.
