We put them in the bait bucket with the airator going. They seem to do just fine.

I know some won't believe me, but we use to get live shrimp in Woodville years ago and they would put them in damp sawdust if you didn't have a bucket. Keep them in the shade with the sawdust damp and melt a little ice to keep cool and they would stay alive all day. Make sure that it is old natural sawdust like the old piles of it that was in the National forest years ago.

I worked at Shields Marina 1965-1967. That's the only way anyone back then bought shrimp. We'd put the shrimp and sawdust in a cardboard beer or soda flat. If the shrimp were not used by the guideboats during the day, the shrimp would almost always still be alive when they got back to the marina.

I think there is a misnomer with keeping shrimp alive! As long as your shimp are fresh, fish will bite them! I have seen many a guide purchase fresh shrimp and just throw on ice for the day. Yes I purchase live shrimp and keep them fresh in my livewell. But any left over shrimp will be throw on ice or bagged up and frozed for the next fishin trip.

Re: Live shrimp overnight
Shrimp hotel is best if you are near the water. Bait bucket w bubbler is my second choice( don't overfill). I agree w bonecracker in that fresh dead may be as good as live, but I strongly disagree that frozen shrimp are even close to live or fresh dead. AMS sells nice bait hotels at a reasonable price. Well worth the investment if you have access to a dock or seawall to hang it. Good luck
