G'day all, Have an 18' deep vee (I like this!) "closed bow runabout". Just bought this sucker. The prop has a small crack that I am not happy with.
The engine is a 225hp Evinrude. The present prop is 21" x 14.25". Just my wife and I plus our tackle, consequently the boat will be relatively lightly loaded. Do the prop numbers sound right to you guys? Stay so busy that finding time to get it wet has been impossible plus I don't want to take it out with a cracked prop. The boat is wide and high sided, not a lightweight. I would guess 1600-1800 pounds with batteries, motor, tackle, passengers, etc. Your thoughts will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Here is a 1--800 number for Evinrude prop questions. Don't know what year yours is but this probably would get you started in the right direction.
Johnson, Evinrude • 90-300 HP (V-6 Gearcase - 1976-1990)

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
Is this an aluminum or stainless prop? My gut instinct would be that's pretty close to the right pitch. You won't know until you run it WOT. It should turn between 5500 and 5800 rpm. If it turns more, you need to go to a 23. If it turns less than 5500 you need to drop to a 19.
What was I supposed to do today?
