SGI Pier fishing report-April 27

Post by DEADLYMNM7 »

Hello fellow fisherman
I went to SGI pier (before going on the bridge) and I have to say it was a great day of fishing!
There was so many people on the bridge!
There was a light breeze and there was some clouds and the water was lightly choppy.
The water was a little murky but it didn't stop the fish from coming!
I saw at least 3 people catching huge bull Redfish (and five people jumping up and down screaming to the fishing gods; including me!)
My wife said she saw someone catch a huge pompano like the one in the aquarium in Bass Pro Shop in Destin!
My catch was: 4 sharks, 1 ladyfish, 1 eel, 9 sail catfish, 2 trout, 1 bluefish, 1 remora, 4 whiting, and almost 1 bull redfish.
It was such a thrill hooking a bull redfish! Hearing your reel scream even with the drag set strong and the rod bending very hard with you pulling hard to make him give in!
To bad he hit my gulf rig and broke the clasp and got away...
Another great thing about that pier is meeting different people from different areas and sharing fishing stories and helping each other out when they need a net or even a cheering section!
Hope this help anyone out who wishes to fish on the Pier by St. George Island this weekend!
Fish On!
