Lanark Run
Goin' to Lanark next week for a few days. Having fished from St. Marks to Keaton, I'm keenly aware of what rocks can do to a lower unit. Question: when running east/west at Lanark is there anything to worry about besides the occasional sanbar/

Re: Lanark Run
I don't think there are any bars or rocks between the marine lab, east of lanark and carabelle, west of lanark. There are some rocks by the channel going into lanark market, but I'm pretty sure that is all. Have fun, good luck.

Re: Lanark Run
Little to no hidden rocks to worry about other than right next to the channel from the ramp as Salty mentioned. The water depth does change abruptly....look sharp. The area just to the east of the Lanark ramp is shallow and has some beautiful sea grass beds. Again, pay attention and don't chew up the pretty grass. Watch the tide. Getting around is easy at high tide and challenging on a good spring low.
I'll be down there this weekend and most every weekend thru July. It's a beautiful place to hangout and fish. Stop in the store (Lanark Market) at the ramp and ask Carson for some fishing tips. He is a good guy and knows where the fish live. (buy some stuff too...he has to eat)
Have fun.

Re: Lanark Run
Don't know of any rocks to worry about. Running East from the Lanark ramp there is a shallow grass flat on the south side of the bay about midway along the reef between the ramp and the end of the reef. It is marked with a sign on its northern edge. Near the sign and pretty much in the middle of the bay are two small markers. One red, one green. This is small 5' deep channel to run through to avoid that flat. Just run in the middle of the bay and thru the markers and you will be ok. If you run all the way to the marine lab @ Turkey Pt there are spoil banks (very shallow) on the western side of the marine lab channel. You have to run a good way out to go around the channel or there is a cut through channel near shore that is marked although the red/green signs aren't facing you coming from the west. Just ease thru the first time.
