Tank strap question
Doing a little leg work for a buddy. He is rebuilding his 17 ft Aquasport boat from hull up. Wires, motor, tank..the works.. any way, when he stripped the boat down, the under floor fuel tank was held in place with two straps. I am told that they were aluminum. Well he cut them in half when he removed them, rendering them useless. Now he cannot locate replacements for them. Any ideas as to what he can use in place of them? The tank goes under the floor in a covered compartment. The center console is bolted on top of the area so checking the straps would be a job. I don't know what to tell him, and he has been unable to locate any aluminum straps. Yes the boat will be used in salt water, so it has to be a material that won't fail due to exposure from salt air/water. Thanks for any advice
Re: Tank strap question
Any shop that does metal work should be able to reproduce them.
