St. Joe Redemption

Post by MuleTrainGA »

After a miserable showing at the NFGFC tourney last week I decided I didn't want my last trip to St. Joe for the year to be a bad one. We ended with five trout and a few flounder but those were some of the toughest 5 fish to coax. Tourney day we fished from Blacks to Windmark with alot of big hits on topwater but no hookups. Today I decided to head to an area of the bay I never had fished before and get a feel for some new water. We fished in less than two feet all day throwing topwater mainly, mixed in with a few DOA's and other soft plastics. Finished our limit of trout by 10:00 with our biggest fish being 24". LOST A 30" TROUT!!!!!!!! :smt010 After finishing out the limit of trout we started chasing reds. A few strikes into the drift I had a 24" Red slam my DOA I had on my ultralight Sienna 1000. Fought the fish for about 10 minutes and after a long series of chasing it down we finally got it in the boat.

With the wind being so calm today we were able to see around 20-30 yards out from the boat clearly. We saw dozens of trout over 20" and around 18,844,940,340 mullet around everywhere. Overall a great day and very relaxing to go out fishing without worrying about going up to Athens the next day.

End Count:
Limits of trout (5 released over 20")
Plenty of 19" fish everywhere
Redfish
Trashfish of all kinds

Nice work Trevor!

Looked like a great day to be on the water.

You guys need to remember to pull those buff's down for the pics so we can see that winning smile.(and you don't look like bank robbers)
