iPilot Head Only

I am looking to convert the Minn Kota Riptide 55lb trolling motor that I have to the ipilot. I am looking to by the head only ipilot kit. Has anyone else done this? How old can the original trolling motor be? My boat is an '04 and I think the previous owner told me the trolling motor was an '07. Thanks for any input.

I have a Riptide SP70 that I converted from a Co-pilot to the i-Pilot. My boat is an 08 so it was either an 07 or 08 model trolling motor. According to the M-K web page the conversion unit is compatible with all versions of the Riptide ST and SP but they are specific to the version i.e. you buy the i-Pilot for either the SP version or the ST version. It was easy to do, a couple of the wires are removed from the control board in the power drive unit and the head is replaced. I love mine and the Spot Lock is the BOMB

Thanks zload, I just got off the phone with minn kota and realized that the tiller steer tm I have is not compatible. That was a heart breaker since I finally had te money and was ready to make the upgrade. Guess I'll keep saving and will make the total upgrade.

Anyone have an ipilot for sale by chance??

Too bad didn't realize they had a riptide tiller... but at least you discovered the issue before dropping the bucks. Good luck on the search.
