Limits at Econfina 5/25 (Pics for Proof)

Post by MuleTrainGA »

Headed home from my internship in Brunswick, GA with DNR Coastal Resources Division with the desire to catch some fish in clear water. Took one of the Wildlife Biologists that went to Warnell and works at the office and fishes a good bit off the Georgia coast. After looking at the winds and tides I decided my best bet would be Econfina. We put out before sunrise and headed out to some creeks to try to catch a few redfish. After a few hits and no hookups the tide and wind pushed out the water and I decided to fish for trout a little while. Fished around 3-5 feet of water with soft plastics since topwater was not getting any love. After we got our limit of trout we decided to trek back on the high tide and fish the creeks for reds. Found em and caught em throughout the creeks. Went to carrabelle the next day and caught a mess of redfish despite the high winds.

End Results
10 Trout
5 Redfish (one 28") 26 1/2, 25, 22, 21

Nice job! I was having the same problem with the redfish hitting but not hooking up. What did you catch the reds on?

Take a close look in the bottom of the boat.

Nice work Trevor. I met your grandpa at Level 8 Friday night. Enjoyed speaking with him. Hope you can make the June tournament.

Caught the trout mainly on jigs of various color. The redfish were on jerk shads since they wouldn't quite warm up to the topwater plug.
