Just curious. Thinking about dragging the boat down Tuesday but I don't want to spend the gas and end up dragging an anchor just to slow the boat enough to fish again. I have some time and a boatless friend is chomping at the bit for me to take him Tuesday morning. I figure the cobia are out of the question for the bay boat with the forecast but I'm wondering about St Marks or Lanark inshore flats. Lanark is a little farther drive but from what I've been reading the fishing is better there than St Marks right now.
Any personal observations on the flats and conditions the last couple of days or the expected wind Tuesday?
So how was the wind around St Marks and Lanark?

Rhett, Much of Lanark is more protected than most other places. Usually fishable unless the wind is really ripping (30+). The only time It is really rough is when there is an onshore wind from the west.

Been in Lanark since Thursday. Friday was very slow.....then the wind started to blow all night, every night. Viz went bad, idiot W.T. Bash boats buzzing everywhere totally oblivious to little things like channels, sandbars, grassflats and other boaters.
However.....it should be very quiet there during this week. So that's good.
However.....the predicted stiff East wind is the worst possible direction.
So.....go fishing.....it's way better than working.

Rhett, If you can find a good satellite photo you will see that parts of Lanark are protected by land points Turkey Point and the point where the Carrabelle River goes into the bay and then by two concentric circles of islands and reefs that have the openings that go through them staggered. Our old rule of thumb has been if you can fish anywhere when it's windy you can fish Lanark. We have seen Appy Bay real scary but Lanark only ripples. Just sayin. Have a good trip!
Re: So how was the wind around St Marks and Lanark?
I decided to call the trip off yesterday afternoon against my friend's wishes. I have too much to do and don't feel like burning the gas to drag the boat down and then fish in 15kt winds out of the SE. There is always the distinct chance the weather guessers missed the call but we'll see. I figured I'd be better off to just wait and come down to the Bash that is going on in Carrabelle Friday and Saturday.
