What would you buy?

Post by Chalk »

If one were moving to Panama City and looking for a boat what would you look to buy?

I have been looking at bay boats something along the lines of a Pathfinder, Majek, Pro-Line, $keeter, Scout…..All these are around 22’ and look similar in hull lines, etc….

Something like this Majek…
More of a flats boat than a bay…

Or this…

Really just window-shopping now really want a flats boat but I feel a bay boat will suit me better in the St. Andrew Bay area.

What would you look at? Open discussion within reason, $20K…..

Yep, bored two days left here and don't have much to do

Having just ended my boat shopping for a while, you aren't going to find much in a 21 or 22 for $20,000.
What was I supposed to do today?

If I lived there and could only have one boat, I would have one that would work well to sightfish for Cobia and Tarpon, a 21-24' bay boat would do very well. You would give up being able to get to some good shallow spots in West Bay, but you could bottom fish out of it on good days.

The two full time inshore guides in PC that I know both run Cape Horn 22s. The guy I fish with went to the Cape Horn from an 18' Hewes, he says he is able to charter many more days a year having the bigger boat.

You could always get a Gheenoe or a kayak to fish West Bay.
