Every (JT) inshore forcast I've ever seen said 1 foot or less. No matter how hard the wind was blowing.

That is because they are INSHORE predictions. If it is predicted INSHORE at more than 1 foot it will say CHOPPY or light to moderate chop..

That may be true, but everyone I have ever seen said seas 1 foot or less or seas around 1 foot. So I guess we shouldn't expect a light chop since the forcast didn't mention it. :D

Not to overstate the obvious, but our buds at NWS are pitifully bad at marine forecasting. Some of it is due to a lack of local data, but for whatever reason it's just bad. I just got back from spending three weeks at Carrabelle beach, and I went out at least ten times in the boat during that time, plus could see the bay very well from the house. Perhaps one or two times they got the forecast sort of right out of more than 20 attempts. NWS undershoots the wind and waves consistently, sometimes horribly. For example, during the OAR tourney, NWS forecast was for 1-2 ft seas, while actual was 5-6 ft, for three days. One day I fished the forecast was 1-2 again, actual was 4-5, plus waterspouts. So, figure doubling whatever they say, at a minimum. One has to go and make a decision on the water, because their forecasts are close to useless.
