Hello everyone,
I recently picked a new boat and have decided to start going out of Carrabelle instead of Lanark or apalachicola. I like the ramps there better and I don't have to worry to much about the shallow water out of Lanark. Or having to drive all the way to apalachicola. However so far my only problem is where are some grass flats to pickup pin fish without having to go over to Dog island reef? Most of my spots are SW from dog island and it adds about 7 miles to my trip. I would love to find some areas close to heading out between dog island and st. George. I have tried straight out of the channel heading towards dog island without any luck the last couple of times I went out. I am not sure if I need to get closer to DI, but I did not want to fish right up next to people's docks. Any help would be wonderful!
Thanks,
-Sid

You can go east out of the river to Umbrella Cove or, straight out to the point between Ballast and Shipping Coves. There's a house that sits by itself there. And, there's some grass at the west end of Shipping Cove.

I agree. You could also just go fish off of the docs. The key is finding the darker grass patches. Cast your Sabiki to the dark areas and you will load up much faster.
