The wife and I finally got a chance to go fishing so I decided to go out of Rock Landing in Panacea. We got to out spot around 7:45 and I knew it was going to be a great day. The first oyster bar we went to was loaded with finger mullet and tons of Red Fish. It took us a little over 25 min to have out limit of reds they were 19",25",26 1/2", and 27 and we spooked one off that was between 36-40" a huge bull. I would like to thank the owner of Aqua Dream spoons for standing behind his product, he sent me the replacement hooks and my wife landed her first red witch was the 26 1/2 inch red on a 3/8 oz gold Aqua Dream spoon with the new VMC hook. I caught the rest of them two were on a bone colored spook and one on the same spoon my wife used today. The trout bite was dead but we did get into a large school of blue fish outside of Shell point shoal and were surrounded by large Tarpon but never hooked up on one.
I went back with a buddy today and I caught another limit my buddy caught a nice one also and we caught a couple of smaller ones. The Red Fish bite is red hot rite now you need to fish the oyster bars as the tide begines to fall from the highest tide to the lowest tide, once the bar is out of the water the reds are gone. I have found finger mullet in the stomach of the reds I have caught so look for the schools of mullet working the flats around these oyster bars.
