Well guys we had another great day fishing out of Rock Landing in Panacea, we got there about 7:15 friday morning and went out to the same spot we fished several weeks ago and the reds were there again. The pattern had changed a little the reds were not on the oyster bars in the creeks they had pushed out into the mouth of the creeks about 100-200yds from the oyster bars. I took my son and a buddy of mine we caught 6 keeper Reds and missed twice as many as we caught and my son caught his first two red fish and I also caught a 24 inch trout in the same spot we were using the large mullet colored zara spooks and my son was using a cajun thunder popping cork with a small pinfish on it.
No I was not able to get the fly rod out the wind was blowing a little too much for me as a beginner to try and throw it . I am going to get my boat a little more setup to fly fish, I'm getting a Yeti Tundra 50 with the mounting straps and the seadek and use it as a casting platform on the front of my skiff. I am also looking for the copilot for my Minnkota Rip Tide if anyone knows where a slightly used one may be located. It would ne nice to have the remote control for the trolling motor.
Great job! We went out of Mashes Landing Thursday morning and fished the bars in front of BP. Not much doing but until we "know where to go" lol, we'll just have to poke around slowly. One happy boy you've got, that's AWESOME
