Well guys despite the crazy weather today and the 15mph plus wind we managed to have a great day on the water we caught a three man limit and relased four or five more reds, between tides we got into some sharks for a little fun.My beautiful wife was the first to catch one but that was the only one she caught, my buddy Daniel caught the 26 incher and two others and I caught 6 reds. The bait of choice today was the Aqua Dream Gold 3/8 oz spoon and the large red was actualy caught on something a buddy of mine and I are experementing with, more to come later on that.
We'll guys what we did was use a money hound by yum baits,it's a soft plastic bait that is shaped like a Zara spook and has very similar movement,we also used a small tube to make a chamber in the back of the bait to insert a rattle like you would in a worm. It worked great and the reason we used in instead of a Zara spook is the floating grass was pretty thick out there the past couple of weeks. So if you want to use top water and the grass is bad give it a try we used the foxy dog color it has similar colors to the mullet color spook.
I bought two packs of Yum Money Hounds and two types of hooks. As mentioned, I took my knife and slit the bottom of the bait and where the hook point would go, slit it even more. Got two baits rigged up with a hook and going fishing tomorrow (I hope!) to try it out. I've never wished for a lot of floating grass but hope to find some.
