Lost boot
Moderators: bman, Chalk, Tom Keels
I think right around the launching area at the light house.
Fishing was a bit slow, had more luck in the channels on the west flats, using a jig and shrimp and running it along the bottom.
Also found a couple of large matts of weed and caught 1/2 doz of undersized trout and tied in to something real big, fought a few minutes but lost him when he headed right for the boat.
Good day, but very hot.

Check with the office on the way into the Lighthouse, they have a lost and found as I recall. I don't fish that far east, but they should act the same. I mainly fish the egde of the flats on the rise and fall, and on the flats close to the full tide. When I say flats, the sand is showing on low tide and only 2 to 3 foot deep on high tide with a good drop close by
There was not a good tide late this morning, and we still got two 23 inchers a 19" and a 17' Trout
We saw lots of other big Trout Blues and a few Spanish. Also saw a feller fight a Tarpon all around us for over an hour, thought we were going to have to get out of his way once. Good luck finding the boot and good fishin

Wevans,
Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought of checking at the ranger office, that could work out. I'll call tomorrow.
Also, great info on how to fish the skinny water and tides, I've been hanging mostly on the flats in about 5 to 7 ft. I think I'll try some of the up close action, it seems to be working for you. I also bought some of the top water lures, eg Top Dog. not long ago.
I'll let you know how both go.

A word of caution, I sometimes throw 50 or more times without a strike
But when they are on, you have the time of your life
So be patient when working the top waters until you get it figured out. Watch your tides and work with them, tomorrow should be good from daylight to around 8 and the next should be around 3 to 5. These are guesses, but should be close

The bigger the tide change the better the fish bite, the big differance is in the length of time that the fish will bite. You can catch them all during the day, but they will move deeper and shallower with the tide and bite really good only in the few hours " sometimes minutes" before and after a change, if the change is small "or a NIP TIDE" they will not bite well at all. We caught a 24 incher 3 app. 19 inchers and a 17" plus a nice Blue this morning on topwaters. We lost around 7 or 9 nice fish also on topwater "I think the hooks kept bending ang then going back to normal when I looked at them"
The grass really made it dificult to work them really good. I am glad that you found the boot and if you see a wild looking feller on a new G3 Pro 175 fishin the flats, thats me, come over and say hello. I hope to have the name SOPCHOPPY REDNECK on her soon

Wevans,
Thanks for making so much of the skinny water fishing clear for me, I'll be gone a few days, going to St.George Island to try my luck, mostly on the east side and bay, Never been there before to fish. hope to try the skinny water with top plugs. Caught a few Blues back a couple weeks ago, sure was good eating, grilled that night .

I'm not much of a betting man, but I might take you up on your advise.
Bye the way, I sure have enjoyed some of your posts over time.
As for luck I think most fishing fella's are good folk and I really thought someone would come through. I've kept my faith for another day.
