In the Black, Celestial Crab 10.13.13 Day two!

Post by Ranaman »

Saturday was pretty Epic with the Crew of Brad Peng, Calvin and Dave salute3. Peng and I cleaned fish for 3 hours, Dave vacuum sealed and then cooked us all dinner which probably wasn’t sat down to until nearly 10PM. I was in bed shortly thereafter, since the 4:30 alarm that morning had given us @ 4 hours sleep being up until after midnight rigging and chewing the fat about previous trips and what out plans were for in the morning.

Brad was enjoying the day with his bride, so we picked up the sleepy head Tommy who had worked until 2AM in Valdosta drove down to Carrabelle and was woken up by my phone call at 6AM then again at 7AM and told the boat was being dropped in the water to Come ON! Which he did shortly after we launched the Celestial Crab into the Carrabelle River, where he quickly settled into the front cabin and laid down and told us to wake him when we got to the fish

We ran out to pinfish and I let Peng Dave and Calvin go at it as long as I could stand it which put about 5 dozen or so pin in the well, Peng kept telling me “one More dozen Joe” after hearing that twice and seeing 3 dozen pins go in the well I put the boat in gear and headed out of the pass, saw some birds diving right in the pass and fish busting so Calvin grabs a inshore rod and quickly rigs a paddle tail grub and chucks it out to the busting fish hooks up to a nice Bonito on second cast fights it like the champ he is even with the fish circling the boat and into the net it went! SNAPPER BAIT!!

Stowed the rod and there we went bursting out of the east pass back to the mango hole nonstop at 30 mph surfing a 1 ft following seas all the way there. Once there we found the show again and did the same dang thing except this time we had the young blood Tommy playing anchor wench and sure enough we couldn’t hold first run at it so had to pull up and try again and it held and I sent a pin down as fast as I could, I wasn’t going to be out fished two days in a row!

Tap tap… slow reel… bam, fight on, then opps dropped it!! Fricking frakingI did that 3 - 4 times wasting good pinfish in the processes before Master Peng filled me in on his dirty little fish catching secrets and @ the fifth time I was bringing one to the net!! Woohoo captain scores a Black! We managed 17 Mangrove (black) snappers, one electric Porgy, and a true red snapper on that spot before the pins ran out.
Tommy with a nice one… Image

We then moved back into 90 feet to try my regular Red snapper hole. Calvin quickly showed us that this was HIS hole and put a slob 27.5 inch ARS in the box!

We wrangled up a couple Red grouper here with Peng landing a Fire truck and I even managed to slip a 26 inch Gag into the box. Between the two holes we also managed 9 more lane snapper.

So day two we score it like this
17 Mangrove (black) snapper
9 Lane Snapper
2 A. Red Snapper
2 Red Grouper
1 Gag Grouper
1 Porgy
And a Grunt for Brad :lick:

Those were two EPIC days of fishing! You deserved it! We are going to have to go back and play with those black snapper some more!
I can't tell from the picture but is that thing the fish are displayed on the shower curtain from the trailer? I thought maybe at first it was one of Celeste's wraps but it's probably too big and I'm sure you are smarter than that...
