Apalachicola 10/11/13

Post by Grouper King »

My dad got a call from a buddy that we fish with in Apalachicola saying that if there was anyway we could make it down to fish Friday we needed to because the water was going to be smooth. He was completely right. We headed out about 745 out of the marina on Mr. Billy's 29 foot Fountain and by 920 we were dropping down 38 miles off the beach. The snapper bite was instant and we had our limit within 20min. No snapper was under 15lbs. The biggest one went 18lbs! The hole yielded more snapper, including some nice mangos to 7lbs,2 decent gags and a awesome 24in scamp! :lick: :lick: :lick:. I wish i could post the picture of that bad boy! Chicken of the sea! Next 2 or 3 holes yielded more big ARS, a couple more mangos, and a bonus 35lb AJ that i caught! The last 2 holes gifted us with 13 beeliners up to 3+lbs and a nice trigger that went 21in! Headed in from 45 miles off at 40mph. Great feeling to be able to run that fast!

Total tally for the day:
13 nice beeliners.
8 mangos to 7lbs.
6 MONSTER ARS to 18lbs.
2 decent gags to 26in.
1 decent AJ at 35lbs.
1 nice 21in triggerfish.
1 NICE scamp to 24in!
and 3 sore fisherman!

Happy Fishing Grouper King! :smt006

Grouper king, I enjoyed "fishing" by reading that. I could stand some of "that kind of sore", too! Better get back out again, more clam days are coming this Oct. Can't buy those flat days....... and the good bite is easier to find this time of year.
