Vicious Fishing
Went out to structure in 25' this morning...
Haven't been out in a while cause "life happens".
Was hoping to roll up on the last few cobia this morning...
Slow start that exploded into the hottest bite of the year...
Any bait smaller than your palm was spanish/bluefish breakfast....so you had to go at least hand-sized...
After a while, multi-rod fishing was a joke...
Just grab the big rod and slap the biggest bait ya got on it and hold on.
Every bait got smashed...cobes and a few huge spinners that had awesome aerial acrobatics...
Huge school of bull reds showed up but spooked the second they saw the boat.
We were so discombobulated by the cobes, we didn't get a line to them....but wow...saw a couple tons swim by...
Boated 4 close-but-no-cigars cobes, before the legal ones showed up.
Had 4 legal ones, 34", 35", 35", and 40". Harvested the big one. Spanishes and a flattie...
Lost several...but constantly hooked up...
One of those days where you pop a cold beverage, and then take your first warm sip an hour later...
If you go....bring as much big live bait as you can carry...

Outstanding report. Thanks for sharing. I was planning on red fishing tomorrow, but may have to chase the brown clown instead.

Re: Vicious Fishing
Woopty, didn't chase the cobes as usual on my end so living vicariously through your post... won't jump the gun on my own post, but will just say that we also found the bite to be amazing Friday. Rare to have a crazy-heavy bite all day, but we found fish slaying bait at first-light in the shallows, midshore around lunctime, offshore after lunch, and STILL on fire when we made our way back into the shallows. Couldn't have been a prettier day with a better bite! Glad to see you put a woopin' on those cobes!
