Offshore from the bombing range this weekend ( Grouper)

Post by Frank Bradfield »

We fished Sat & Sun. from Econfina. Pinfish were plentful and so were the short grouper. Our water depths ranged from 32 ft to 50 ft, most keepers 32ft believe it or not. Total tally 10 keeper grouper, great weather, boat ran good so all and all i guess was a decent weekend.

Since i have a tralior at Econfina i'll tell you what i heard on the bombing range if you don't know. I think the state owns the land and another guy who it seems money is no object wants to get the land from the state. So I think what his plans were to trade for the land , seems the state has some tiny island up the coast he would like to acquire, hmmm, I hear its and unheard of amount of money for that chunk of ground. So back to the plan he trades the state out of the land, sells it to the military guys, state dosen't look as bad because they didn't sell it to the military, all nice and neat, he dosen't care what you think because he has a billion dollars and is living on and island. Sweet huh ! I also heard the plan was to shoot long range missles from offshore, getting good huh, well does that mean a short missle could land in my boat ? or does it mean the whole area will be closed completly. All i can say is put up a sign, don't sit around and hope others will do it for you, if you have a vote on this , get going and do the right thing. Frank

The state does not own that land. Foley land & timber company does & they are selling 500,000+ acres in and around taylor county. And this guy (Alford) is not the one with the money he's making the deal for a group of investors. There is a land swap on the table with the military for a small amount of land for the range for 16+/- acres of beachfront in destin(not an island) that the military already owns.

Other than the investors looking to make money, who would vote yes and why?
