St. Marks Inshore Nov 29,30

Post by Jhults11 »

Have not been able to fish much lately due to work and school :smt012 . Did get a decent grouper trip in last week but really wanted to chase Trout and Reds in my new (to me) boat over the break.
11-29-Dad and I made it out Friday and did quite a bit of searching and it paid off. We found a deep hole in the St. Marks and sank shrimp on 1/8 ounce jig heads. We caught Reds (mostly rats) on nearly every cast for 1.5 hours. We did get 3 good ones at 23, 24, and 26.75 :smt007 . Managed a keeper trout and black drum out of the same hole. Dad and I were quite pleased with our 50+ Red day!

11-30- Me and my buddies decided to put a trip together with the 4 of us out of 2 boats. This was kind of a special trip because Chris, a good buddy and coworker of ours is moving back to Arkansas to get his PHD at the end of the month. So the pressure was on to make this a great last trip for him. Luck would have it that we found em, a lot of em!! We fished the deep holes in the St. marks and we put a nice limit of trout in the boat to 20" by 1030, including 2 dandy sand trout.
Our other buddies managed 6 keeper trout by 1030. For every keeper we probably caught 10 shorts...good time to take a kid and introduce them to fishin!! We left the trout grounds at 11 and headed for the Red hole. Both boats anchored on opposite sides of the Red hole and proceeded to wear em out for the next 3 hours. Between the two boats we probably caught around 60 rat reds but did manage 2 keepers. All in all we sent Chris out on a trip that will have him seeking florida fishing every chance he can get away from school! Get out there and get at em, they are thick right now!

Sorry kenfly I just saw this response...we caught most of our fish closer to the fort...with this warm weather they wil probably push back closer to the mouth and flats though..good luck

No prob, we found plenty of fish, just no size to them, I think most were out around the mouth and we didn't run quite that far :)
