The Quest for Tim's 1st buck....

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

:-D Last year I helped Tim who works at my wife's school to get his 1st deer(a doe). Well this year he wanted to get his 1st buck. We got all the deer my family needed before Thanksgiving, so the next day Tim came out and sat. And again. And again. And again....and so on and so forth. I sat with him a lot and tried to call and rattle a deer in for him. We even saw a buck one evening that we were going to shoot for our neighbor, but did not because Tim was coming the next morning. And of course the buck did not show. Had a pick of a beautiful young 8 in daylight, and of course he did not show. My wife saw turkey's almost every time she sat and they never came out for Tim. I joked that he needed to change his aftershave. When he sat all he saw was birds and squirrels. Once he did get a look at a big buck but then he was gone. Fast forward to the last weekend of the season. Tim sat Saturday am and saw nothing. Then came again Sunday am and saw nothing. He texted that afternoon that it was hot and if I thought they would walk. I told him it's not over till it's over. Besides Tim had told me that this weekend was the last time he would be able to hunt. So he got in the stand at 3:00 and settled in for the afternoon hunt. Well around 4:30 people across the road, and a little down from me, start shooting. I don't mean a little I mean like a Vietnam reenactment. It was constant rapid fire shooting. Tim texts me asking if we were shooting and I told him it was across the road. He is worried that all the deer in the area will be gone and should he get down. I said NO and that it may run one to him. Also when they get bored and go inside they may walk just before last light. We head to church about 5 till 6:00 and I text him to tell him to text me if he gets one and we'll come back and help him load it. As I'm walking in the door of the church my phone buzzes..........Got one!!!ImageI think he's happy. What you think? :-D

Nice work Tim!
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

:-D Never thought a deer would be able to run 30 yards with both front legs broken. He would have gone alot farther otherwise. Never made it out of teh plot.Tim's still smiling. :-D

Good deal on helping him get his first buck. That's a healthy looking deer.
