starting to get pretty comfy with my new digs, but still plenty of work to do and plenty of contractors to be paid.
One glaring issue is the lack of shelter sufficient to house my boat. What are some economical options ya'll have seen or implemented? What companies do you have experience with? I'm contemplating everything from a metal carport to a 24' x 30' pole barn structure (bigger than my boat I know, but I've contemplated some other purchases to fill it).

I have been trying and researching the same thing as I want something to park the boat to have more protection during the season without having to cover it each time. this is the best I have found but have not searched locally which I really want to do.

Have you considered remote covered storage? I'm paying $55 a month for an enclosed individual stall (unheated) at a facility in St. Marks. Boat is out of the sun and weather, I have additional storage for gear in the back and it's fairly convenient to either launch at Shields Marina or trailer east or west depending on where I want to fish.
The major drawback is if you want to work on the boat. Have to carry all the tools/supplies, but I plan accordingly, take the pup and we eat fried chicken and drink a couple barley pops when we do.

My heartburn is around the fact that I want to be able to launch my boat anywhere from KB to PSJ on a whim. I don't want to have to pick the boat up somewhere along the way. Additionally, living on Lake Iamonia (provided it isn't duck season), I may want to make a spur of the moment trip around the Lake.

The rough figure that I come up with for a 24 X 30, open shed "just post and a tin roof" is around $1700 for the wood and tin. That don't include the nails, fasteners for the roof or any cement you may would pour around the post

I had a metal carport installed 2 years ago. and I am completely happy with it. mine was 24 x20 for less than 1600.00 took less than 3hours for them to install. check around for $

First thing is build or buy way bigger than you think you need. You WILL fill it up!
Me and 2 other friends built a 24x36 pole barn at my place. I got the poles (10) over a years time from talquin. I aquired the tin and trusses from another friend. we cut 2 green poles for the beams at a friends sawmill. They are 4"x7"x36'. The fastening hardware for all of it was $150.00 which is what I have out of pocket in building my barn. Well, other than a couple of cases of beer It only took two days to build and finish. If I had to buy the trusses I would have went with steel trusses, you'd only need 4 and I saw some on craigs list just this week.

I started out with a 32x36 from Panhandle salvage in Bonifay.
Saved up and and did the concrete.
Then started closing in the back 12x32
Decided I need more under roof
Found a guy over in Defuniak Springs that makes the trusses a good price http://jordantruss.com/ ALso found a good deal on CL for some 26' tin
Up they went
Mostly finished.....but still have room to do another lean too.

The structures themselves appear to be pretty nice. If I were to buy materials only, can anyone recommend a contractor? Some of my current contractors may be game, but I haven't discussed with them yet (Team Callahagn?)
