Knocked on his bedroom window and his dog woke up. Heck, scared the shite out of me to be honest. Somehow he slept through it.
With the rain coming down constantly and the frequent thunder, I figured maybe he was using his better judgement. So off I went.
Pulled up to the landing around 8:30am and launched the jon boat. I had a nice break in the rain for a couple of hours but could see showers and lightning off in the distance. Just not overhead. Fished the first bar and caught 2 18" trout. Then moved on to the flat and boy were they there! I kid you not, made 6 casts and caught 6 trout. 4 of the 6 were overslot with the largest being 24"s. They were all caught on a Mirrodine and all overslots released. It was one of those days where you just knew that on your next cast you were going to hook up. Friggin awesome!!!!!! I ended up keeping 5 trout all between 19 and 20"s. Killer stringer. No reds though. Didn't even have a follower.
Then the storms began to roll in again. As I was getting the boat tight and secure for the ride, my vision went PURPLE
Made it back to the landing and to my surprise was met by a friendly FWC officer at the ramp. He checked my stuff and let me go on my way. Only one other boat at the ramp and it was a crabber. Guess he was waiting for him to return.
Final tally 30 to 35 trout. 1 stupid fisherman and a jon boat.
