Put the Tin Can II in at the Fort around 1:00 today. The tide was out, and the ramp was slick as ice. I was alone and this was going to be my first solo run with the TC II.

I was anticipating a rough ride once I hit the gulf, it was smoother than I expected. ran out east of the bird rack and set up a few drifts. The wind was out of the northeast at about 5-10 knots. The water temp was around 87 degrees. Picked up a few pinfish and threw one off the back of the boat under a CT and picked up a nice 16" spanish mackrel. That was the only keeper of the day. I almost landed two more fish on a red and white "catch 2000". Somehow neither fish got enough of the trebble hook to stay hoocked. Cought a few short speckeled trout, a puffer and something that looked like a bluefish.

An afternoon thundershower moved in and cooled me off and sent me back to the fort. Overall it was a great solo run with the Tin Can II.

If the weather report is favorable tomorrow, I'll be headed out again.

Them 2000's wont catch fish. Just bundle up all those baits and give them to me. I'll dispose of them for you.

Sounds like you're getting comfortable with this boating stuff. Good deal.
What was I supposed to do today?

It is great to get up and go, and goin' by yourself has special aspects just as it does to go with a buddy. [I try to remember to use the toggle-kill-switch lanyard, and I wear a little "fanny pack" inflatable floatation device when out by myself.] It looks like your willingness to try paid off with a Friday afternoon adventure. Thanks for sharing it. And the photo is cool: I bet it would look good blown up big.
