Ken, I was referring to our ocean run, migratory sea trout.
Like our salmon (and your speckled sea trout), these are truly wild fish and must respond to similar stimulations to feed, or attack.
I can't see why these lures shouldn't work well on the flats.
There is a top salmon lure, that looks very similar to a DOA shrimp.
The weight on the Flying C is a barrel lead, wedged in the "head" of the lure, with the line passing through to a bead and stopper, then tied to the hook.
This set up allows the lead to be changed to suit conditions.
I would like to see a photo of the kind of spinner bait that Chalk uses on trout, I think I'd like to try that too, and just haven't thought to do it. They'll hit a spoon so they should hit a spinner too. But then what would I do with hundreds of dollars worth of DOA's if I get "hooked" on another lure?
OD
That'll work, OD. (You're getting real close to making a Sally. )
I have a bunch of spinnerbaits that Wal-Mart used to sell for $1. They put them on closeout for $0.50. I probably bought 25. Take the skirt off, put a grub on. If it gets torn up, or cut off, I haven't lost much.
Nope...gold works....just ask Tom, John or CSMarine.....They have a tendency to foul hook themselves and a frisky red or large trout tend to destroy them, but they work...I have yet to go redfishing and not catch one on one in over a year
