Keaton Beach 4/12/14

Post by ddb »

Fished Saturday 4/12 out of Keaton Beach with a friend from Tifton and a friend from Bainbridge. We had to work fairly hard for it, but we eventually wound up with a limit of sea trout. Picked up 1/2 on the rising tide on Redfins, Gulps, and pin fish, and the second half on the falling tide on shrimp and pin fish. Early on we were able to find fish in 3.5' of water but later in the day we had to move out to 5. As you move north from Keaton the water got progressively more stained. With a good high tide we tried for a good bit to find a red, but to with no success. At least in that area, the reds appear to be pretty scarce right now. Not sure what the explanation for that would be? I guess with all the fresh water they may have moved out a good bit, but typically when that happens a few are caught mixed in with the trout.

I'd say you had a good day considering the condition of the water. We've not found any Red's either.

I tried for some reds in some of my "hot spots" tw0 differeent days last week and came up blank. tried the oyster bars out of mashes sands on the third getgo and did find a few there at the end of flood tide thru the start of ebb tide. .A few rats ,but did end up w a 20" anda22" for keepers and released one 30". there was some trout around also while the flood tide was still running pretty good. Did find anything on the ebbtide. That was last thurs. 4/10?
