Ecofina 5/17

Post by Xpress »

Came out of river went towards Rock Island about 1030. First fish of the day was a big pompano. Plugged around with no luck on trout caught a couple flounder. Moved out a little deeper and hung something huge :o fought it for 10 minutes finally got it to the boat 35 inch cobia. He was released. I have never caught one now I know why people hunt for these guys it was awesome :P . Got flat slick around 230 still with no trout decided to run to where I was catching them in April around Aucilla. Water temp was 78 so I figured maybe they hadn't moved much. I was right caught a 3 man limit by 430 all big trout 17+. Back at the ramp by 5 and boy was it busy. Final tally for the day 15 trout, 4 flounder, 1 pompano, 1 cobia released. Also, has anyone ever seen tripletail on the flats. I saw 2 big ones come right past the boat as we were drifting. They looked like huge hulk bream. Couldn't get them to bite anything. What do you use to catch them Live bait? All fish caught on gulps in 4.5ft to 5.5ft. Great day on the water!! :D

Between Ecofina and Aucilla very surprised to see clearer water. Could see bottom in spots.

Dang nice haul. Figures they start biting after we had to go. We lost 2 large fish. Not sure what.

I always say you have to find them to get them to bite and you did jut that. Good report and good fishing! Thanks

Freelined live shrimp do the trick for Tripletail. They sure do taste good on the dinner table!

Nice assortment.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
