I get about 3/4" of fresh water that accumulates in the battery box. Seems like there is no drain other than the wiring races, and it does not look like they actually drain anywhere.
Anybody had this problem? Should I drill a hole in the bottom of the well?
We have the same problem. I have contemplated just drilling a hole in the battery box corners to allow the water to drain out and down into the bilge through where the wires come in to the compartment.
MJ, theirs is a different problem. Their battery is in a storage compartment (the same as mine). If you want your battery trays to drain, you could drill a hole in the bottom of them, also.
Before you drill any holes, I would make sure that nothing in the bilge could be harmed by battery acid incase of a leak. Might be better long term to just dip it out occasionally. I have those black battery boxes, and I drilled mine out were they would drain, then one of them decided to leak, eating up the paint of my floor . From now on, I will tolerate a little water around my batteries.
