Finally had a good chance to take off work and head down with a former co-worker. The plan was to meet up at the Southwood Publix at 5:30ish. Well...my fishing partner for the day was running around 20 minutes late. That messed things up a little but it was going to be OK. Finally hit the water closer to 7:15 and it was slicker than glass. Had a beautiful run to the first spot and started with top water. Had a lot of hits and a lot of misses. It was really hard to stop using topwater since they were getting popped a lot but I finally switched over to a spoon thinking maybe they wanted it below the surface. That didn't work either. We moved around a few more times trying to find a few reds to no avail. Bites would last for around 20-30 minutes, then would stop for a bit. Overall a great day on the water and came home with 5 keeper trout and the one flattie. Water temp started at 82 and got up to 84. Water clarity was around 3 feet give or take. Still a little stained but getting better every week.

Nice fish. We fished a little further west of you last Fri and did well with the trout. Few fish shy of a 4 man limit with one spanish and a short red. We must have thrown back 25 short trout. If they weren't 15 3/4" we tossed them back. 3 1/2- 4' was the best bite.
