Scallop concentrations
Does anyone know where or when the report comes out on the best concentration of scallops will be this coming season? Thanks in advance
Re: Scallop concentrations
I contacted FWC yesterday and was told the report was already out. I was confused because I had been checking everyday. The guy told me it was not a chart this year but a graph. It is a vey confusing graph at that. It is on the first page if you google 2014 scallop report. It is listed right under "open harvest area". The graph looks to me like it only reads until last year, but he told me that was it. It doesn't even say 2014 anywhere on it. Strange....

Re: Scallop concentrations
Wow, that is the most useless graph!

Re: Scallop concentrations
Did not see any at Keaton Beach this past weekend. New management at the marina raised the rent on the scallops and they left like all the campers.

Re: Scallop concentrations

This graph DOES NOT include 2014. If you look at the bottom of the graph, each year marked is in 2 year increments and 2014 is not listed...
Re: Scallop concentrations
They probably can't see them to survey them. Water is too dark.

Re: Scallop concentrations
You are correct on the graph. The previous years, the report would give fairly accurately where you should plan to scallop, whether it was Keaton, Port St Joe or Crystal River. This is very disappointing. I do like the post on the scallops leaving because of new management at Keaton Beach. I heard they don't even monitor radio now and let you know if they can hear you. I guess they can't charge a fee for that.......
Re: Scallop concentrations
I don't scallop but the 2013 Fall report that came out in March 2014 didn't look too good when I glanced at it... I assume y'all found that one....

I totally agree. I'm just relaying what I was told by FWC.milto wrote:scallop graph by sugarfoot095, on Flickr
