I posted in the boating section by accident.
Looking to dry store my boat in Panacea vs St marks. I have only gone out of st marks to fish so far so I dont know squat about panacea. Closer ride to the ocean but a bit further drive from tallahassee.
I mostly flats fish for now and was wondering how the areas compare.

Re: Fishing Panacea vs St Marks
I fish mainly Panacea and Mashes Sands and have had little trouble finding fish
"though I don't go nearly as much as I used to"
One great thing I love about the area compared to SM, is the lack of rocks "though they can be fish magnets". I still have the same prop and foot on my 12 year old boat with over 1800 hours on it
You can expect to run up on a few sand bars until you learn the area, it is mostly grass flats between Panacea and Piney Island, just past Piney is Oyster Bay and it is full of Oyster Bars and to the right is Mashes with mostly grass flats with several Oyster bars in the mouth of the river and you can be in 30+ foot of water in 9 miles from Panacea

Do you know anything about rock landing marina?
Re: Fishing Panacea vs St Marks
I'd rather fish in those areas as well. Not as many people. I like to fish between Bald Pt. and Shell Pt.
Re: Fishing Panacea vs St Marks
I've heard no bad things about them, but have no personal experience with them

Re: Fishing Panacea vs St Marks
I've docked my boat there for a week or two a few times, and the folks there have always been more than fair and friendly.
