Rod recommendations to pair with Calcutta 400B?

Post by bman »

I have a Calcutta 400 that was paired with an inexpensive rod.... well the chepo rod lived up to its price and broke.
It will see use it for big reds, sharks, black drum... castability is not a major requirement.

Suggestions?

Shimano Teramar TMC70MH.

Made with TC4 blend, virtually indestructible and with a lifetime warranty.

15-25 pound line rating and the medium heavy 7-foot comes with either medium fast or extra fast action.

Linn can order one if Kevin's doesn't have it in stock. Reasonably priced, too.

That would be my go to... wondering if anyone had recommendations outside Shimano?
I even thought about an Ugly Stick Tiger Lite

Since shimano no longer offers an over the counter warrantee( or if they ever truly offer it is up for discussion)I decided to give forum member Dom of southern custom rods a shot. He said he would warrantee all rods for life for whatever reason it broke. His price for BBF members is around $160. A new terrimar will probably run $120 or so. Not much more coin for a custom quality rod. It should be ready soon, I'll give a review once I've pulled a few reds w it.
