Red tide was bad a few weeks back. Had some friends fish several sundays ago not a bite. Lots of fish dead at mouth of river. Keaton should be better.

I talked to sea hag and one of the local guides and from what I have gathered from them it was mostly bait fish and catfish. Does anyone else have any reports? I sure dont want to drive 12 hours, waste money and time for nothing. The local guide was the one that said mostly bait and catfish, the lady at sea hag told me that there was no current reports of red tide and all the dead fish were ones that blew/washed in.

I posted my report but no dead fish seen inshore north or south of the river 10/12 or 10/13. Water was very clear, not much biting for me but I assume the high pressure then approaching cold front may have impacted the bite. Lots of floating grass top water lures were almost impossible to keep clean. Pretty good rain today so may get a little murky for a day or so. Seahag had a few pinfish left never got a bite fishing with on a popping cork or just floating behind the boat... Gulp shrimp didn't get much action either. Everything we caught was on a soft plastic jerkbait. I didn't go past Big Grassy or Pepperfish.

I was at Pepperfish, south of Steinhatchee on Saturday and saw no signs of red tide. However, the fishing wasn't great either.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Finished 5 days of fishing 23-27. First 2 days we went out of Steinhatchee caught 7 keeper trout north of bird rack around big grass island on gulp and pin fish under cork, 1 red, 2 trout, and a flounder in dallus creek on the same. Caught some mackerel chasing bait and landed a few. All of our action was north! We had no luck south. The last 3 days we went to Keaton beach and had a lot better luck. 36 keeper trout 2 reds and several sea bass. We fished north out of Keaton spring warrior back to the bird rack. 3-4' of water. Our best luck was to find water that was semi-stained and fish with live bait or gulp.
