Butch,Al,Pogo and I went fishing out of St. Marks Lighthouse last Saturday.We headed a little east so that we could keep a eye on a nasty looking storm coming from Carrabelle way. Fortunately the storm went inland and left us some beautiful fishing weather. We had a trout in the boat almost every third cast. We kept 15 from 17"-23", of the remaining 135 or so released about 20 were keepers. Al hooked up on a trout that would be in the humongous category. After several side to side hawg wallow type manuvers he straightened the hook on a Sureketch jighead and escaped to fight another day. Nearly all the fish came under ct's with 14" leaders and chartreuse grubs.
Sunday, Butch and Al went again and did equally as well. Although they had fewer total fish the size was better with 10 fish from 19"-24". Most of the Sunday fish came on topwater.
Hey there.... that's some report Sounds like every Trout in the vicinity evacuated to your boat What time of the day and what stage was the tide. You didn't by anychance catch a water temp did you?
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
We fished from 8am-3pm. Most of the fish came from 8 til noon. Water temp 85, water clarity lightly stained. You could see the bottom in 5 feet. Tide was rising. We fished 5 of our favorite spots and caught fish in all of them. Hope this helps.
Gee Willakers! That was really sumthin! I haven't been around anything like that but one time out there maybe 25 years ago, all on a silver spoon. I don't remember there even being a limit back then, and I have assumed that it couldn't be done anymore like you guys did!
How deep were you? Over what kind of bottom? Did you drift or did you anchor after you started hooking up??

I was there and I also found a really sweet spot. They were hitting on every cast, and any color I threw. (I only kept two fish) I was with my 10 yr old daughter, and we were out having fun! We rode the boat almost 45 miles and used a full tank of gas!
Didn't concentrate much on fishing....
We went out on Sunday, but went West instead and caught 1 short in the 6 hours we fished Sure do wish we had headed East now

Thoes days of catching fish on every other cast are few a faw between. I have had a few of thoes days last spring and fall. Man is it fun.
I hope you get to do that again soon.
