Divers Down
Went Wednesday for what I thought would be a quick hunt. Turned out not to be so quick because the roads were nasty. Took my Micosukee Wigeon with the flyway blind. Got set up right at daylight and we were getting buzzed as we set up. Settled down, got the pop up blind from flyway popped up and birds were landing in the decoys. We did well up until about 9 and then the action slowed considerably. Biggest problem is that we had a mix of bluebills and ringnecks, mostly blue bills. We knocked down 3 or our 4 allotted blue bills in the first 15 minutes. My eyes are getting old to tell the difference between between a blue drake and a ringneck drake, so we let quite a few birds swing through. Only shot the ones in the lips that we could tell had no blue bill. Ended up with 4 bills, 1 redhead hen and 7 ringnecks.

Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Re: Divers Down
Any morning on the duck pond that doesn't include a dunkin' is a good morning.
Eye doc says it will take lenses transplant to return morning vision. Not ready for that yet!

That's a great morning!! Thanks for sharing.
Still haven't started yet (at Guana WMA) as I'm hoping the numbers of hunters will decrease come mid Dec (sad).

Re: Divers Down
Some of the best hunts I recall are ones where we had to be careful to select the right bird on the wing. Had that happen once with Bills and Redheads. Had a 4 man limit (2 boats hunting next to each other) and had to be ultra careful to take only Ringers to fill our limit. We did it though without a mistake. Sounds like a blast. Sorry about your eyes. One of my best hunting buddies just had corneal transplants and is seeing better than he has in 10 years. Hope he goes to Canada with us again. He is deadly accurate when he can see the target.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?
