Well we went over this past weekend and fished New Years Day and the Friday after. Thursday was beautiful, cruised the beach over near St. Andrews Sound, not a nibble but quite a few people fishing the inlet and off the beach there, never saw anyone catch anything.
Saw no bait at all in the water and no birds crashing. Our friends went out to some of the artificial reefs in roughly 50' and caught a couple of barely legal trigger fish. Said there was tons of bait everywhere but nothing hitting it. We went over by the buoy line and got some bites from some small sheephead around the larger buoys but no keepers. While messing with that I got a bite and after setting the hook realized I had something way bigger than a sheephead. I was using an inshore rod at the time and it immediately doubled over and the reel went to singing... before I could back off the drag the 20# leader broke. No idea what that one was but it was fun while it lasted

We also caught some small grouper and snapper around the Navaids just outside the bay. Hit the reefs on Friday and caught all kinds of triggerfish... and all were 1" too short

Saw a few people fishing (including some wading in the 55 degree water) around the mouth of the canal in the bay but for the most part the place was empty.
Weather wasn't great Friday and the wind started picking up Saturday so we didn't fish. Ate a ton of seafood and had a nice stay at the Barefoot Cottages in PSJ. Boat ran well, wife and daughter were happy... a nice relaxing weekend which was the point! We'll try the bull reds on the beach later in the spring

Happy New Year!
