This comprehensive course will feature instruction on when, where and how to fish the flats of Apalachee Bay. Topics will include knots, tackle, lures, baits, tides and lunar phases, navigation, flats etiquette, nearshore opportunities, boat, kayak and trailer rigging and other subjects to help anglers catch more trout, redfish and other inshore game fish. Captains Dave Lear and Chuck Simpson will be the primary instructors, along with Brett Shields. A BBQ lunch and goody bag ($25 value) is included with admission. More than $1,000 in door prizes will also be awarded. As an added bonus, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will be teaching a one-hour boating safety course at 4:30 p.m., following the conclusion of the flats seminar.

There's still time to order a seminar registration as a gift, but the days are counting down.

Sign up soon and certificates can be mailed in time for the holidays. We can also arrange a meeting if you're one of those procrastinating shoppers.

Plenty of openings for both days as of right now, but sell-outs are expected. You can also give a registration gift to yourself and have a great chance at winning some cool stuff, including Costa sunglasses, Shimano spinning reels and more.

For planning purposes we have decided to expand the class size and go with a single day session on Saturday, 2/21. We will not be holding the Sunday class.

Register now to ensure a seat to this comprehensive class, lunch, angler bag and more than $1,000 in free door prizes. Advance registration is required.

Previous attendees tell us how much the seminar helped improve their catch rates on Big Bend waters.

My wife and I attended last year and I can attest to this seminar being a great time. Capt Dave and Chuck Simpson are first class people(as most of you already know) and very knowledgeable when it come to fishing our local waters. We received a nice "goodie" bag with tackle and info. They also gave away nice gifts,we won a gold 1 yr membership to Seatow, which the local area guy is also jam up. The info most definately made us better anglers. I had never been to Sheilds until that day but was very impressed with Brett and his facility. I still keep up w/ Chuck on FB and have bought several rods and a reel from Dave. Hope you guys enjoy. If you are debating whether to attend,go ahead a book your seat. The lunch, prizes and fellowship are well worth the price of admission. We had a blast and I'll be renewing with Seatow in March. It paid for itself with a month of having it,but we wont talk about that :). Enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words, Todd. Glad you and the missus enjoyed the class.

With the consolidation to just Saturday, 2/21/15, seats are filling up fast. We've had a flurry of registrations the last couple of days so if you would like to attend sign up soon. We cannot accept walk-ins at the door.

I just got confirmation that Eagle Claw will again be our Platinum Sponsor for 2015. All attendees will receive Eagle Claw hooks as part of their packet, along with lures, knot cards, etc. And now, with just the Saturday session our door prizes are doubled. We're giving away four Shimano spinning reels, Costa polarized sunglasses and lots of other cool stuff.

Thanks and stay warm, everybody.
