Came down to Keaton early Saturday to find 2 dead batteries. We knew they would be with the 27 degree temp. Sea Hag in Keaton was nice enough to let us borrow their jump start pack and we were off to find the trout.
Our first stop in the creeks proved to be the honey hole and we fished there all weekend. Water temps were cold at 51 degrees when we started and didn't improve much - topping out at 54 degrees. The water was crystal clear. I got to experience seeing hundreds of trout schooled up which was a first!!! All appeared to be at least 18" plus. We picked up 8 on Saturday and got 10 nice keepers on Sunday with a couple over 20".
The bite was furious once we figured out what they wanted which was a mirror lure catch 2000 with a black top and orange body. They also bit the Paul Brown's as well. We picked a few up on live shrimp but not like the twitch bait.
Sunday was beautiful with a high of almost 70 and no wind. NOAA was no where close on the forecast. Here are a few pics:

Nice. That is cool to see when those trout get schooled up like that.
I was lamenting not going Sunday as I ate lunch out on the back porch. Once again the weather-guessers got it wrong. Glad someone was able to enjoy a pretty day. I spent it stuffing angler bags for the upcoming seminar.
Forecast is not looking too good this whole week, but it won't be too much longer and Old Man Winter will be sounding a retreat.

I also want to thank Keaton Beach Sea Hagg for their help ! They went above and beyond the call of duty to help us !
Now the fishing , it was great and NOAH screwed up again ! I thought Spring and Fall was the time to go but after this weekend with my boys , this winter fishing is awesome!
Blister needs to let his "Ole Dad" catch a few fish now and then!! LOL
